the subtle system
The Subtle System
Energy Centres: 1. The Mooladhara-Chakra (innocence), 1a. The Kundalini (mothering energy), 2. The Swadishthan-Chakra (creativity), 3. The Nabhi-Chakra (peace), 3a. The Voyd (the guru principle), 4. The Anahatha-Chakra (love and compassion), 5. The Vishuddhi-Chakra (collectivity), 6. The Agnya-Chakra (forgiveness), 7. The Sahasrara-Chakra (integration).
Energy Channels: A. The Right Channel (physical and mental activity), B. The Left Channel (emotions and desires), C. The Central Channel (ascent and spiritual growth)

The entire subtle system is governed by three vertical energy channels and seven main energy centres. Through the Self-Realisation Sahaja Yoga process, the subtle system is fully activated with the awakening of the Kundalini, which is the mothering and spiritual energy present in all human beings.

The Kundalini energy rises from the sacrum bone along the backbone. As a result, energy centres (chakras) become enlightened and filled with energy. When the Kundalini energy passes through the brain, we spontaneously achieve a state of mental peace and a higher state of awareness as it cleans and balances the entire system and enlightens the pure qualities of the chakras within us. And, most importantly, it is only after Self-Realisation and the awakening of the Kundalini can human beings receive the ability to achieve the meditation state.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga

The activities that take place through the parasympathetic system and the rise of the Kundalini are spontaneous; hence, the term Sahaja (spontaneous) is to describe the meditation that was discovered by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970. Once the Kundalini is awakened and has raised above the head, we become enlightened or Self-Realised people, enjoying the full awareness of our subtle system and spirituality.
